Juan the Sailor is one of Canada’s leading sires of reining horses and a proven sire of barrel racing and rope horses. He has sired earners of 78.5 AQHA points, 3 Performance ROMs, $1273.60 in NRCHA money, and $27,288.01 in NRHA money. As a maternal grandsire, his grandfoals have earned 78 AQHA points and $71,764.08 in NRHA money and counting. But perhaps the biggest impact he has made is the heart and mind that he has passed on to his foals and grand foals. These horses are athletes with heart and a will to please.Juan the Sailor was bred in Oklahoma by the Hall of Fame inductee, Bob Loomis. He eventually ended up in Alberta and earned points and money in Reining in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Arizona and Montana.Juan the Sailor is a son of Topsail Cody, a NRHA Hall of Fame horse who was the 4th ever Million Dollar Sire. He is one of the NRHA’s all-time leading maternal grandsires. He is the sire of multiple NRHA Hall of Fame horses including Cee Blair Sailor who in 1995 was the youngest horse ever inducted and Topsail Whiz who is the NRHA’s first ever 12 Million Dollar sire and is the NRHA’s #1 All Time Leading Sire. The Cody horses are well known for their willing and kind personalities. They want to work and to do their job well.
Juan the Sailor’s dam, April Bar Juan, had 37 AQHA points in reining and a reining ROM.
Juan the Sailor has been retired on the Eppich Quarter Horse farm in Handel, Saskatchewan since 2017. His son, Juan Peppy Sailor, is our main breeding stallion.
We are expecting several Juan the Sailor grandbabies out of well-bred mares this year.
